Construction and traffic advisories impacting the normal flow of traffic on the Route 1 highway for an extended period of time are posted below.

Motorists are encouraged to visit the NB511 site for construction information posted daily and updated as conditions warrant.

 

UPDATE: September 30, 2025
Work east of the SJHB - kilometer marker 124 to kilometer marker 138

Further to the advisory below, milling operations will begin eastbound at km marker 136 of Route 1 (Circle K/Dolan Road Irving area) on Thursday, October 2nd.  Motorists should expect delays, particularly during the evening rush hour commute as the highway in this area will be restricted to a single lane.

Traffic Advisory – Route 1 Lane Closures – Various locations - kilometer marker 124 to kilometer marker 138

Gateway Operations wishes to advise the public that beginning Friday, October 3rd to Friday, October 31st, various lane closures for paving operations will be in place along Route 1, eastbound and westbound, between kilometer marker 124 (east of the Saint John Harbour Bridge) and kilometer marker 138 (east of Rothesay exit 137)   Motorists should expect delays, especially during morning and evening rush-hour commutes.

Motorists are encouraged to check NB511 (https://511.gnb.ca/) for daily lane closure updates and to plan accordingly.

Traffic Advisory – Route 1 Lane Closures – KM Marker 114 to KM Marker 120, Eastbound

Gateway Operations wishes to advise the public that lane closures for paving operations will be in place eastbound, between kilometer marker 114 (Route 7 & Route 1 interchange) and kilometer marker 120 (Riverview Drive overpass) of Route 1, for the week of September 29th.   Motorists should expect delays, especially during the morning commute
