Overweight and Oversized Loads:  

The New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (NBDTI) is responsible for the administration and issuance of overweight and oversized permits for vehicles travelling the Route 1 corridor and other provincial roadways.  Please contact NBDTI or visit the address below for further information.

Commercial Signage:

Short-term Advertisements:

Gateway Operations is responsible for the administration and issuance of Short-term Advertisement permits for Route 1.  Applications for Short-term Advertisement permits are available here and are subject to meeting the requirements of Regulation 97-143 of the New Brunswick Highway Act.  Conditions for consideration and approval will be subject to review by Gateway Operations and will only be considered for an event that is sponsored or organized by a non-profit organization or is a community festival. (see Section 6(6) of Regulation 97-143 of the New Brunswick Highway Act.)

Applicants should expect a minimum of five (5) business days for the review and consideration process.


Highway Usage
:

Gateway Operations is responsible for the administration and issuance of Highway Usage permits for Route 1.  Applications for Highway Usage permits are available here and are subject to meeting the requirements of Regulation 2009-156 of the New Brunswick Highway Corporation Act.  Conditions for consideration and approval will be subject to review by Gateway Operations and the Province of New Brunswick.

Applicants should expect a minimum of thirty (30) business days for the review and consideration process, which may be extended depending on the scope and complexity of the proposal.  Applicants are encouraged to provide comprehensive details in the application to avoid delays.


Temporary Work or Controlled Access:

Temporary work or unauthorized access on the Route 1 corridor is strictly prohibited without the expressed consent of Gateway Operations and the Province of New Brunswick.
